Half Is Whole

What is commonly known as חצי קדיש (half Kaddish)
is actually the complete Kaddish.

The Tefillah of Kaddish is to be Mekadesh Sheim
Shomyim.which ends at Da'amiron Beolmo.

Tiskabal,Yehai Shlomo & Oseh Sholom were added
on to the Kaddish, when ending, the Tefillah it should
be accepted, we should have peace with each
other, and if  there is Ch"v Machlokes, Hashem should
help us make peace*

*Aruch Hashulchan O.Ch. 56:8.(I am not sure, why it is important to know)

Did He Change His Clothes ?

Parshas Hashavua

Rashi explains that it was actually עמלק who was ישב הנגב but
disguised himself, by speaking in the language of  כנען
so to confuse the Yidden when they will Daven to Hashem
to save them from the enemy כנען instead of עמלק

Since they  wore Amaleiki clothing the Yidden
realized something doesn't make sense and Davend
without mentioning any name of the enemy.

The Kalir in the Piyut of Shabbos Parshas Zachor writes
Seems that the Kalir holds that he changed both, his clothing
and language.

The (מהרש"א (ר"ה ג ע"א 'ר claims we can say that the
Kalir & Rashi are not arguing. The meaning of כסות ולשון שנה
is that the כסות didn't match the לשון since he wore Amaleiki
clothes and spoke Kanani language. (like Rashi)

*Bamidbar 21:1

How can we and why do we?

How can we and why do we?

The Ramban דרשה לר"ה explains why Klal Yisroel adopted Babylonian names for the months.*

תמוז is a name of an עבודה זרה

Many attempted to answer how we may and why we did name the month after an Avoda Zara.

Harav Hagaon R. Chaim Kanievsky Shlita.
said, being it was the month they placed a צלם in the היכל

I wasn't זוכה to understand any of the  answers (includings R. Chaim's).

*Originally the months had no names
but numbers 1st 2nd etc. except for

Dedicated To The Pope

                dedicated to the Pope

Dedicating a Sefer to an individual or a family is very common today. One of the best known Sefer
dedication is The Schottenstein Shas.

This custom goes back to the times of the Geonim, & maybe even earlier.

1) R. Amram Gaon dedicated his “Seder Hatefilos” to R. Yitzchok Bar-Shimon who sent him
ten Golden coins for the Yeshiva in Mechasya.

2) R. Menachem b. Zerach dedicated his Sefer “Tzeidah Laderech”  to Don Shmuel Abarbanel.

3) R. Ovadia Seforno dedicated his Sefer “Ohr Olam” to King Henri 2nd(France)

4) R.Dovid de Pomis dedicated his Sefer “Tzemach Dovid” to Pope Sixtus 5th

5) R.Menashe b Yisroel dedicated his Sefer  “Mikveh Yisroel”(Hope of Israel) to
The British Parliament, Courts of England  & Prime Minister Oliver Cromwell.

6) R. Mordechai Gimpel Halevi dedicated his Sefer “Tochachas Megillah” to Gustav the
President of Sweden.

7) Efraim Pinner* dedicated his “GermanTranslation on Meseches Brochos  to
Tsar Nicholas 1st (Russia)

What A Joke ?

The Mishna Verurah(24:7) writes in the name of the קדמונים
that by placing the ציצית over the eyes when saying
Parshas ציצית one is guaranteed not to become blind.

The Mishne Verura continues that
"a blind man may hold his  ציצית in his hand even though it says וראיתם אותו since others can see it.

However, the blind man should not place the ציצית over
his eyes since it will seem כחוכא ואיטלולא." [It looks weird and
laughable for a blind man seeking protection of not
becoming blind.]

I was just wondering when some צדיקים do strange things during their עבודה no one looks at it as weird.

On the contrary, it is assumed they have  deep Kabbalistic hidden

So too why is it considered weird & laughable when a blind man would place his ציצית over his eyes and we don't assume it to have a deeper meaning?

Seems) that this privilege is only applicable)
to צדיקים. When they act strangely during performing Mitzvohs  we may not question it. We must assume they are performing with hidden Kabbalistic כוונות.

For the המון עם (simple Yid) they have to be careful not to
do strange actions while performing Mitzvohs otherwise it

will be  כחוכא ואיטלולא

How Many Meraglim ?

PARSHAS SHELACH:

How many Meraglim did Moishe send to Eretz Yisroel?

The Three Mitzvos

Parshas Hashovua--Parshas Shelach
                     THE THREE MITZVOHS

The Bach (O.Ch.625) writes that there are three Mitzvohs
that require special כוונה to know why Hashem commanded
us to do this Mitzvah

1) Mitzvahs סוכה because it says למען ידעו דורותכם
2) Mitzvahs תפילין because it  says למען תהיה תורת ה' בפיך
3) Mitzvahs ציצית  because it says למען תזכרו

The Pri Megodim adds Pidyon Haben where it also

Harav Shmuel Wosner zt"l writes the reason the Bach
doesn't include Pidyon Haben is  because the Torah
gives the reason to answer the son who asked מה זאת
and not that we need to have in mind when performing the Mitzvah why he gave us the Mitzvah of Pidyon Haben.

Chof Sivan

In 1171, 31 Yidden were burned in the city of Blois France.
1) R.Tam was Gozer Ta'anis on כ' סיון  He said that this Ta'anis
is greater than Tzom Gedalya being it is like Yom Kippur.

2) After the גזרת ת"ח ות"ט  (Chmelnitski ym"s 1648-9) The Va'ad
Arba Artzos reintroduced the Ta'anis of  סיון 'כ

3) In 1946, The Gedolim in Hungary chose כ' סיון  as the day to commemorate the Holocaust by fasting and  Slichos.
A special Selichos for כ' סיון was printed in Budapest.

DYING PIGS - TAKE OUT THE TRUMPETS

The Rambam & Shulchan Aruch write there is a Mitzvah to blow
trumpets for every צרה not only מלחמה.

The Shulchan Aruch lists all the צרות where fasting and blowing
trumpets are required.

One of them is when there is an animal plague and the pigs die.
The reason for it is, human stomachs are similar to pig stomachs.

The (מגן אברהם (ס' תקעו  asks he doesn't understand why we don't
use trumpets today which is more important than fasting*.

*Trumpets is דאורייתא fasting is only דרבנן- see Rambam
The Pri Megadim, Ya'avetz, Chida, Shu"t Mishna Halachos & Shu"t Lehoros Noson

all try to come up with a reason why we don't do it today..

Parshas Hashavua

?except or but  אלא

Rashi ( 9:10 D.H. "או בדרך")
פסח שני מצה וחמץ עמו בבית"
ו                                                                                                                                      ואין איסר חמץ אלא עמו באכילתו
(There is no Issur Chometz except if eaten together
with the Korban)

The Minchas Chinuch asks on Rashi, "We don't
find anywhere in Chazal that there is an Issur to
eat the Korban Pesach Sheini  together with Chometz."

The Meshech Chochmo (Ohr Someiach) made up his
own Limmud, why it should be Assur to eat the Korban
together with Chametz.

Harav Shach zt"l said  Pshat in Rashi is just the opposite,
ואין איסר חמץ there is no Issur Chametz
"אלא עמו באכילתו"  = But you may eat Chometz together

with the Korban.
