The Major Mistake

.

   Parshas Hashavua

   Daf Yomi

THE MAJOR MISTAKE IN THE

On the Pasuk ונשמע קולו בבואו אל הקודש the תורה תמימה quotes a ירושלמי as follows יבוא קול  ויכפר על קול ההורג נפש בשגגה

(The sound of the bells of the Kohen Gadol's מעיל should be מכפר for the person who kills.)

In the footnotes, the T.T.  comes up with a silly explanation.

The תורה תמימה mistakenly combined two sentences as one יבוא קול ויכפר על קול ההורג נפש בשגגה and ended up with a totally wrong Pshat

                       THE CORRECT PSHAT:

The ירושלמי says two עבירות, Loshon Hora & murder had no כפרה until the Torah established a כפרה for them

The sound of the bells should be מכפר the sin of  Loshon Hora (stop)

2) For ההורג נפש (new sentence) One who killed  the death of a Kohen Gadol will be מכפר

There is no such thing as קול ההורג נפש

Did You Know (103)

The Meiri (Moed Katan 9a) writes:
“A person should always cherish a Bracha from a Talmid Chacham. He should attempt with all his might to receive  a Bracha from him.”

The Chasam Sofer On The Holiday Of Tu Baav

The Chasam Sofer* adds another reason of
his own for this great Yom Tov of Tu B’av.

The Gemoro (Moed Katan 9a) says on the Pasuk
They came home and their wives were Tehoros.
They all became pregnant with a Ben Zochor.

They were forgiven for eating on Yom Kippur.

The last person to reach his home in Nehar Peros was on the 7th of Cheshvan (Ta’anis10a)
If you count from the  7th of Cheshvan, 271 days of pregnancy (Nidah 38a) they will have given birth on the 15th of Av which was their sign of Kaparah.
*(Drashos 1:P43)

According to the Chasam Sofer, perhaps we can add an additional Simcha on Tu B’av.

They all had boys and realized that in the next few years
there won’t be any  Shidduch crisis.

DAF HASHAVUA MOED KATAN 24a .How To Swing Your Talis

There is a Machlokes Haposkim how to do the Atifah with the Tallis.
Some say to bring down the top of the Tallis above the eyes. Others say you may cover the eyes as well up to the mouth. Some Arabs in the  Dessert cover their eyes to protect from the sand.
They can still see the ground they are walking on.
a)Those people who pull down the Tallis halfway over their head are not doing an Atifah (M.V. 8:sk4) (can’t see anything)

The Halacha requires to throw the Tzitzis to the back of the LEFT shoulder.
b) “Many Talmidei Chachamim mistakenly throw the Tzitzis also over their right shoulder. Doing so is    בל תוסיף . There is no mention of it, not by the Pashtanim (Poskim) and not by the Mekubalim”.
(Piskei Teshuvos, Leket Hakemach )
 c) Placing a folded Tallis on the shoulder, has nothing to do and is not part of Atifas Tallis.
Originally Shuls had no tables. The most convenient way of checking the Tzitzis, was by placing the Tallis on the shoulder. Checking the Tzitzis before making the Bracha is Halacha. Placing a Tallis on the shoulder is not.
Placing the Tallis on the shoulder and not checking the Tzitzis is Amei Ratzes.
