שמונה ימי מילה
In the פיוט of אחד מי יודע, it says:
" שמונה ימי
מילה" eight days of Milah (based on the גמרא
ערובין מ' ע"ב)
The מפרשים
ask: There is only one day of מילה
on the eighth day, and not eight days of מילה.
Reb Chaim Kanievsky זצ"ל answered,
"There is an obligation not to make a ברית
before the eighth day.
Therefore there are eight days of Milah
The first seven days to make sure not to do the
ברית and on the eighth day to do the ברית.
