Reb Moishe Shternbuch -Sheva Brochos In The three Weeks

Harav Moishe Sternbuch Shlita writes*, "Even though there is no
Chiyuv to make Sheva Brochos every day but if you do make
Sheva Brochos, you are performing a Mitzvah Kiyumis.

For this reason we may make Sheva Brochos in the three weeks.
Simchas Chosson V'Kallah is a Mitzvah. Refraining from Simcha in
the three weeks is only a Minhag. The Minhag applies only to Simcha
of Reshus and not Simcha Shel Mitzvah"**. 

R. M. S. continues that the Steipler zt"l held, being there is no Mekor  for
dancing at a Sheva Brochos, therefore you should refrain from dancing
during the three weeks.

He concludes, even on Shabbos it might be advisable not to dance
especially according to those who hold not to make a Shehechiyonu
on Shabbos.(in the 3 weeks)

Who was Serach's father?

The Ramban (26:46) says the 转专讙讜诐 讗讜谞拽诇住 translates
讜砖诐 讘转 讗砖专 砖专讞,- "讜砖讜诐 讘专转 讗转转 讗砖专 住专讞
The name of the daughter of Osher’s wife was 砖专讞. 
(She wasn’t Osher’s daughter but his wife’s daughter)

The Ramban explains, Serach’s mother was married and 
had only one child. (Serach)  
讗砖专 married her after her husband died.*

The 转讻诇转 诪专讚讻讬 (Kur Zahav) says that she was 
the daughter of 讬砖讜讬 the son of 讗砖专. When 讬砖讜讬 died, 讗砖专 married his daughter in law. (讗讬住讜专 讚讗讜专讬讬转讗)**

A second possibility is that she was the granddaughter 
of 讬砖讜讬 and 讗砖专 married his son Yishvi’s daughter
in law (讗讬住讜专 讚专讘谞谉)

The 住驻专 讛讬砖专 says she was the daughter of

According to Rashi
(Breishis 3-9) whenever Hashem asks a question
it's always a rhetorical question just to start the conversation.
(even for 专砖注讬诐 - 拽讬谉 & 讘诇注诐)

At first glance, it would seem that R Bachya would argue
on Rashi because R.B. holds when Hashem asks from
专砖注讬诐 it's done to mislead them so he can destroy them.
(not a rhetorical question)

Perhaps, R.B. will agree to Rashi that whenever Hashem
asks a question it's always a rhetorical question even
for 专砖注讬诐. (like Rashi)

Rashi explains the reason Hashem questions rhetorically
so the responder will not be caught off guard '讜讻讜

R.B. qualifies this reason to be true only for believers.
Non-believers (专砖注讬诐) on the other hand, are unaware
that it was a rhetorical question.
They think, Hashem doesn't know the answer & therefore
he asked the question.
Hashem allows them to be misled that way so he can
destroy them.

When 讘诇拽 asked 讘诇注诐 to curse the Bnei Yisrael,
he said 讗专讛 *诇讬, "curse me*".

Mori V'Rabi Harav Hagaon R.Shlomo.Miller Shlita said,


In Parshas 诇讱 诇讱, Hashem said," 讜讗讘专讻讛 诪讘专讻讬讱
讜诪拽诇诇讱 讗讗专 I will bless those who bless you  and 
those who curse you I will curse".

讘诇拽 was aware of this, yet he still insisted on having the 
Bnei Yisrael cursed. even though as a result of this, 
讘诇拽 himself will be cursed. 

The 砖讜谞讗讬 讬砖专讗诇 attempt to harm the Yidden even when 
they know they are harming themselves & will lose out
by doing so.

At the end of the war, the Nazis 讬诪"砖, instead of using 
their  trains for their war effort to save their own military,
they used the trains to transport the Hungarian 
Jews to Auschwitz.

Even though 讘诇注诐 blessed the Bnei Yisroel, he wasn't 
entitled to be blessed because it wasn't him who blessed
the Bnei Yisroel
It was Hashem's Brocho coming out from Bilam's mouth.

 is  while it is still attached to the ground

 is  when it is a thread (plural, many strands)

 is after it’s beaten but before it's turned into thread.

 is when it is a fabric.
Linen clothing   can be called   讘讙讚讬 讘讚, 讘讙讚讬 驻砖转谉 or
讘讙讚讬 砖砖
 
The Rambam (讻诇讬 讛诪拽讚砖  8- 13,14) Paskens like our 讙诪专讗 
wherever the Torah  says  
砖砖  the thread had to be made  
with six threads (讻驻讜诇 砖砖).

When it says 诪砖讝专 then the thread  had to be made with
eight threads (讻驻讜诇 砖诪谞讛).

My nephew 讛专讛"讙 专' 讗砖讬 讚讬拽 砖诇讬讟"讗 in his 住驻专 砖讜"转 讗砖讬 讬砖专讗诇
compiled a list of 47 recommendations of how to become
wealthy, how to retain the wealth, and how not to become poor.

All the recommendations are based on Chazal, Rishonim,
Achronim,& Chasidic Masters.

When immorality was involved, both 驻谞讞住 & 诇讜讬, risked their lives by being 拽谞讗讬诐, (zealots) yet 驻谞讞住 was praised for his 拽谞讗讜转  and 诇讜讬, on the other hand, was ostracized for his 拽谞讗讜转 

The Netziv in 砖讜"转 诪砖讬讘 讚讘专 explains, that practicing 拽谞讗讜转 should not be done even by 讞住讬讚讬诐 who are doing it for the sake and love of Hashem. It may only  be done by 转诇诪讬讚讬 讞讻诪讬诐 using their 讛讙讬讜谉 转讜专讛 (Torah logic- Hashkafah)
 
(诇讜讬 was a 13-year-old boy when they killed the people of 砖讻诐) 
 讗诪讘爪讬

They are the only ones who know and understand the very minute and precise details as to when to be 诪拽讚砖 砖诐 砖诪讬诐 by going out to fight for the cause and when to refrain from 拽谞讗讜转 to avoid '讞讬诇讜诇 讛.


Perhaps, according to the Netziv, when in the future, there will be a need to be 诪拽讚砖 砖诐 砖诪讬诐 by bringing traffic to a halt and the Egged buses to a standstill, etc. instead of 14-year-old Bachurim we should have the 讝拽谞讬 专讗砖讬 讬砖讬讘讛  who sit down on the pavement in the middle of the street and scream "Natzim" at the Zionist police who are trying to Shmad and torture all the Frum Yidden.

注砖"拽 驻专砖转 讞拽转 In the year 1244, they burned the Talmud in the main square of Paris. R. Yechiel of Paris had a talmid named 
Nicholas Donin 砖专"讬, who became a 诪砖讜诪讚. He went to the pope accusing the Talmud of being against  
the 谞讜爪专讬诐 & 讗讜转讜 讛讗讬砖.

R. Yechiel of Paris and R. Moshe miKutzi (住诪"讙) tried to defend the Talmud but to no success.

After the burning of the Talmud, R. Yechiel of Paris moved to 注讻讜. Hence the first of the Ba’alei Tosfos in Eretz Yisroel.

The Maharam Mi Rottenberg wrote a  拽讬谞讛 about the burning of the Talmud. Ashkenazim say this   拽讬谞讛
on Tisha B'av (砖讗诇讬 砖专讜驻讛 讘讗砖 -拽讬谞讛 诪"讗

One of the powerful stanzas of the 拽讬谞讛.

               "讗讜专讬讚 讚诪注讜转 注讚讬 讬讛讬讜 讻谞讞诇 讜讬讙讬注讜 诇拽讘专讜转 砖谞讬 讗爪讬诇讬讱 诪砖讛 讜讗讛专谉 讘讛专 讛讛专 讜讗砖讗诇 讛讬砖 转讜专讛 讞讚砖讛 讘讻谉 谞砖专驻讜 讙诇讬诇讬讱"

"I will shed tears until they flow like a river and reach the graves of your two princes Moishe & Aaron who are resting on the 
mountain of Hor.
And I will ask them, Is there a Torah that is new and therefore your scrolls have been burnt"

R.Hillel Verona* writes the Talmud was burnt on the same square, the opponents of the Rambam burned the Moreh Nevuchim a
few years earlier.
They finally realized that they had wronged the Rambam.

Vayikra 16 : 21 , 讜住诪讱 讗讛专谉--- 讜砖诇讞 讘讬讚 讗讬砖 注转讬 讛诪讚讘专讛 .

The next Pasuk (22) it says again 讜砖诇讞 讗转 讛砖注讬专 讘诪讚讘专  .



R. Y.B. Soloveitchik zt”l (Boston) explains*,  two 砖诇讬讞讜转
were done.

In Pasuk 21, The 诪砖诇讞 (sender) was the 讻讛谉 讙讚讜诇. The 讗讬砖 注转讬
was the 砖诇讬讞 of the 讻讛谉 讙讚讜诇 (Ahron) . His mission was to bring
the 
砖注讬专 that the 讻讛谉 讙讚讜诇 sent into the 诪讚讘专

As soon as it arrived in the 诪讚讘专, The 讻讛谉 讙讚讜诇's responsibility
was over & done with.
At this point the 讻讛谉 讙讚讜诇. may do the 拽专讬讗讛 (reading) of
the 驻专砖讛.

This is what the Mishna is telling us, 讗诪专讜 诇讜 诇讻"讙 讛讙讬注 砖注讬专 诇诪讚讘专   



In Pasuk 22 the sender is not the 讻讛谉 讙讚讜诇 but the 讗讬砖 注转讬 .
(for 讻诇诇 讬砖专讗诇)

The 讗讬砖 注转讬 sends (delivers) the 砖注讬专  to the 爪讜拽

Since they  wore Amaleiki clothing the Yidden
realized something doesn't make sense and
Davend without mentioning any name of the enemy.

Seems that the 拽诇讬专 holds (unlike Rashi) that he
changed both, his clothing and also his language.

The (诪讛专砖"讗 (专"讛 讙 注"讗  claims, we can say that the
拽诇讬专 & Rashi are not arguing. The meaning of 
讻住讜转 讜诇砖讜谉 砖谞讛 is that the 讻住讜转 didn't match the 诇砖讜谉 
since he wore Amaleiki clothes and spoke Kanani
language. (like Rashi)

According to R.S.Y. Elyashiv zt"l,
When saying 拽讬讚讜砖 诇讘谞讛 one may
say 砖诇讜诐 注诇讬讻诐 to someone who
is in middle of the 讘专讻讛 and will not
answer back 注诇讬讻诐 砖诇讜诐.

The Nusach of 拽讬讚讜砖 诇讘谞讛 only 
calls for to say 砖诇讜诐 注诇讬讻诐

Answering back 注诇讬讻诐 砖诇讜诐 is not part
of 拽讬讚讜砖 诇讘谞讛.


It's done as 讚专讱 讗专抓 to answer back
when someone wishes you 砖诇讜诐 注诇讬讻诐.

What colour was the 驻专讛 讗讚讜诪讛?

We find in the Torah and Chazal, the colour “讗讚讜诐” can be translated
a) the actual red colour (red wine)
b) the red family, colour (brown, orange etc.)


(Bereishis 25 : 30)
讛诇注讬讟谞讬 谞讗 诪谉 讛讗讚讜诐 讛讗讚讜诐 讛讝讛 It is called red lentils, but its colour is brown.

(Zecharya 1:8)
讗讬砖 专讜讻讘 注诇 住讜住 讗讚讜诐 - 住讜住讬诐 讗讚讜诪讬诐 – (A man riding on a red horse-red horses) There are no red horses. There are brown horses.
s(Succah 35b)
An Esrog that was peeled and looks like a red date. Rashi explains, "All peeled fruits 谞讛驻讱 诇讗讚诪讬诪讜转" (turn red). Peeled or cut fruits turn brown not red.

(Bechoros 6a Rashi)
住转诐 住讜住讬诐 讗讚讜诪讬诐 (horses are usually red) Never heard of red horses

There are no red wine coloured cows and probably never was. Probably the colour of a 驻专讛 讗讚讜诪讛 was not
red but it was brown.

The uniqueness of the驻专讛 讗讚讜诪讛 was not that it was red. It was unique by being completely brown, not having two strands of hair in a different colour other than brown.(white-black)   

One might argue and claim it still needs to be a certain shade of brown (orange or light brown etc,) However, we don't find in the Rambam etc. qualifying what shade of 讗讚讜诐 is 讻砖专. If we assume 讗讚讜诪讛 is brown there is no reason to insist it to be a specific shade.

Perhaps we can assume it wasn't a "red heifer" but a "brown cow"

According to the 诪讛专砖"讗 &  爪诇"讞 when the 讙诪专讗
(Pesachim 56a) says, 讘专讜讱 砖诐 讻讘讜讚 诪诇讻讜转讜 诇注讜诇诐 讜注讚" 
should be said quietly during the year except for 讬讜"讻",
it is only during 拽专讬讗转 砖诪注

This is the reason why we do say* 讘砖讻诪诇"讜
aloud  on 讬讜"讻 拽讟谉 (then we aren't likened to 诪诇讗讻讬诐 )


*The original Minhag Ashkenaz was to say it
only when a Minyan fasted.
