                       MISHENICHNAS ADAR MARBIN BESIMCHA

The Gemoro (Taanis 29a ) In the name of Rav it was said, "the same way, when

the month of Av comes in you reduce with simcha, when the month of Adar comes

in you add with simcha.

The Rambam and Shulchan bring the halacha of M'shenichnas Av mema'atin

b'simcha.

They do not mention M'shenichnas Adar marbin b'simcha.

Why not?

The obvious reason is, there is no such  halacha* to be marbeh besimcha when Adar

comes in.

We still need to understand why not.

See Shu"t Chasam Sofer (O.Ch 160)  Since  we don't pasken like Rav that aveilas

starts on Rosh Chodesh Av,(According to halacha it starts on shavua shechal bo ) 

we also don't pasken that simcha starts on Rosh Chodesh Adar.

The halacha in Sh. Aruch & Rambam of Mishenicnas Av mematin besimcha applies

to only one thing ,not to build a binyan shel simcha.

On this halacha we can't say The same as when Av comes in you are not allowed

to build binyan shel simcha-- so too when  Adar comes in you may build binyan

shel simcha. You may build a binyan all year not only in Adar.

 " Single men may Duchan

Nesias Kapayim. Even though they are without

Simcha. (בלא אשה בלא שמחה)

They are not worse than married men Bizman Hazeh  

who are also without Simcha because of their Parnasa

Tomid B'simcha

Daf of the week

R.Noson Sternhartz wrote that R. Nachman Breslover said ,

"Mitzvah Gedolah Liyhos B’simcha Tomid."

1)  What makes this a mitzvah?      None of the monei hamitzvohs

count this as a mitzvah.  It is true , that mitzvahs should be done

besimcha. This is a way to do the mitzvah but not a mitzvah in itself.

2)  How can you say “Tomid” if there are times when not only

is it not a mitzvah but an aveirah ?

In Hl Aveilos # 391 – 1  Aveil  asur liyhos b’simcha .

3)  Why is this, a mitzvah gedola and other mitzvahs are not gedola?

I found only one mitzvah gedola in the whole Shulchan Aruch  

“Mitzvah gedola l’haspid hameis  koroui” ( It is a great mitzvah to eulogize

a niftar properly).

There is one more mitzvah where gedola is mentioned

Hl. Pidyon Sh’vuyim “ein lecho mitzvah gedola k’pidyon sh’vuyim.

PS. I have no answer to the questions,

 Yehi ratzon, the day of "B'simcha Tomid" should arrive b'karov mamash.
