In Shulchan Aruch (Y.D. 345) there are many Halachos
on how to treat suicide victims.
(讗讬谉 诪转注住拽讬诐 注诪讜 -讜讗讬谉 诪转讗讘诇讬谉- 讜讗讬谉 诪住驻讬讚讬谉 讗讜转讜 讜诇讗 拽讜专注讬谉 讜诇讗 讞讜诇爪讬-)
(No Taharah, no Shivah, no Hesped, no tearing garment,
etc.)
Today, according to most 驻讜住拽讬诐,
we treat suicide victims like a regular death.
This leniency is based on a
controversial Sefer 砖讜"转 讘砖诪讬诐 专讗砖.*
The 讘砖诪讬诐 专讗砖 claims if someone had problems or hardships in
life (who
doesn't?) then we don’t treat it as a 诪讗讘讚 注爪诪讜 诇讚注转.
(The Halacha of 诪讗讘讚 注爪诪讜 诇讚注转 gets thrown out the window.)
The 讞转诐 住讜驻专 (Shu”t Y.D.326)
and many other Gedolim consider this Sefer forged by R. Shaul Berlin, known as
a Maskil, who claimed to supposedly have found these manuscripts from the 专讗"砖.
The 讞转"住
termed the Sefer "讻讝讘讬 讛专讗"砖"
(Fake Rosh)
The 讗讘谞讬 谞讝专 writes, not to keep this Sefer in your
home. It
should be burned even on 讬讜诐 讻讬驻讜专 砖讞诇 讘砖讘转
*We consider every
suicide as having a mental disorder
