Is It Mutar To Shave-Part II

The Tur (O.Ch. 581) quotes the Midrash .

"The Minhag of the world is when a person has a court case, he dresses

in black ,wraps himself in black and grows his beard etc.

The Bnei Yisroel are different. They dress in white they wrap

 themselves in white  and shave their beards. ומגלחין זקנם) )*

This Midrash also appears in the Yerushalmi (R.H. Perek 1 Hl. 3)

On the bottom of the page there is A Pirush called Chidushim

He writes that in Yalkut  Pr .Voeschanan and in Tehilim 148 the

Girsa is  מגלחין את שערם (they shave their heads)

In the Cairo Geniza (pages of the Yerushalmi)

page 146 has our Girsa is                                                                                             ומגלחין  זקנם  

page 153 the Girsa

is                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                         ומתקנין זקנם

they fix their beards

Erev Rosh Hashana you have an option to do one of the following

                               

1) shave your beard

2) shave your head

3) fix your beard

Saying Tachnun On Tisha Baav

The Tur (O.Ch.693) quotes R.Amram Gaon:

"The Minhag in the two Yeshivos was to say

Tachnun on Purim".

On Tisha B'av there is no Machlokes. We do not say Tachnun because מיקרי מועד (it is called a YomTov)

Seems that Tisha B'av is more of a YomTov than Purim.

*גילוח  is shaving not trimming 

Mikor for the strange Minhag- Maybe?

In Meseches Sofrim  (18:7) it says that the Minhag on Tisha B’av was, they wrapped the Sefer Torah

In a black cloth, placed it ( Sefer Torah) * on the floor, said Nofloh Ateres Rosheinu  and did Kerias Hatorah.

The Abudraham writes , on Tisha B’av you don’t place the Sefer Torah in it’s usual place.(Bimah)

It is very possible from this came the Minhag to place the Sefer Torah on the back of a

person bending down. They didn’t want to put the Sefer Torah on the Bimah or on the floor.
