R Moishe Zolty zt"l

R Moishe Zolty zt"l the איש החסד והמעש was Niftar 
in Toronto. He was 100 years old.

He was one of the big Askanim & Ba'alei Tzedakah of the city.
During the Shivah, many unknown stories about him are being
told & publicized.

I would like to add one more unknown story.

In the early 30's R Meir Shapiro zt"l came to Toronto to fundraise forhis Yeshiva. He then established the first Daf Yomi Shiur in Toronto and
perhaps the only one on this continent. (Established by RMS)
Supposedly, this Shiur didn't last for more than a few months.

Fast forward 40 years later when the Kollel came to Toronto. it
was R Moishe who started and organized the Daf Yomi in the Kollel.

He used to come early in the morning to the Shiur and after the Shiur, he drove to the Agudah for Shachris. ( Later on, The Agudah started their own Daf Yomi which he attended)

The Daf Yomi he started in the Kollel is still going strong today. 

ManyYungeleit and Ba'alei Batim in the Kollel  learn Daf Yomi started by R Moishe.close to 50 years ago.
