The Ba'al Haturim (Vayikra 11 : 29) writes," השורץ
is the same Gematria as כשעורה , the shiur (size)
Tumah of a Sheretz."
How can he say so? The actual shiur Tumah of a Sheretz is כעדשה
(lentil) and not כשעורה (barley).
The answer is you are supposed to read כשערה (hairline).This shiur is applicable
when a Sheretzis in an egg that has a
hairline crack, then Tumah can escape
