ECLIPSE #1 There are three statements in the גמרא (.סוכה כ"ט) regarding the omen of an eclipse. 1) ת"ר בזמן שהחמה לוקה סימן רע לכל העולם כולו    When the sun is eclipsed it is a bad omen for the entire world.            2) ר"מ אומר כל זמן *שהמאורות לוקין סימן רע לשונאיהן של ישראל    When the heavenly lights*, i.e., the sun and the moon, are eclipsed, it is a bad omen for the enemies of the Yidden, (which is a euphemism for the Yidden) 3) ת"ר בזמן שהחמה  לוקה סימן רע לעובדי כוכבים                        When the sun is eclipsed, it is a bad omen for the other nations.                    There is a מחלוקת between the מהרש"א & the ערוך לנר if ר"מ is referring to the sun or to the moon &stars According to the מהרש"א ר"מ is not referring to the sun  therefore there is only a two-way (1+3) מחלוקה.  According to the  ערוך לנר, ר"מ is referring to the sun and therefore ר"מ will hold it is ח"ו bad for Yidden only.   Since the last ברייתא  holds that it will not be bad for the Yidden, we will assume this to be the הלכה פסוקה באגדתא and all the Yidden will אי"ה have a good year אמן כיה"ר
