The great & big Mitzvah-"common sense"

                RESPECTING THE AUTHORITIES

Maran Harav E.M. Shach zt"l used to say that the
biggest 注讘讬专讛 one can do is to be an idiot and not
using common sense.

The Chasam Sofer seems to say that the greatest and
biggest 诪爪讜讛 one can do is using their common sense.

The Chasam Sofer writes
砖讜"转 讞讜"诪 拽" " re the 诪爪讜讛 专讘讛 讛讙讚讜诇讛
to respect the head of state (king) for two reasons.

a) It's common sense to do so & it's proper manners.
(诪爪讜讛 砖讻诇讬讜转 讜谞讬诪讜住讬转)

b) We find so in the Torah. Moishe was commanded
to respect 驻专注讛 the evil king & 讗诇讬讛讜 讛谞讘讬讗 ran in front
of 讗讞讗讘 who was 注讜讘专 注诇 讻诇 讛转讜专讛 yet there is a duty to
show respect to the head of state. (even the Tziyoinim?)

*WHOEVER IS DISRESPECTFUL IS AS IF HE
DOESN'T PUT ON TEFILLIN."

*
Perhaps, a head without brains is a 拽专拽驻转讗 讚诇讗 诪谞讞 转驻讬诇讬谉
You can't put Tefillin on such a head
