Dancing & Music in a cemetery
הלכה ולא למעשה
The
Shulchan Aruch Y.D. 368:1 says:
"In a Bais Hakvoros,
you may not behave lightheartedly
(קלות ראש)*. "
The Mechaber and the Rema enumerate in detail a long
list of things that are considered קלותראש, (relieving oneself,
eating & drinking, reading, and learning,
etc. -- )
Music and dancing in a Bais Hakvoros is not mentioned as a
קלות ראש behavior.
There
can be only two reasons why
there is no mention of music & dancing as
קלות ראש
a)
It’s so obvious,
mention of it is unnecessary. There
is no need to say that you may not bring in a cat in the Kodesh Kodoshim.
Or
b) Music & dancing in a Bais Hakvoros is not considered
קלות ראש and it is permitted.
It
seems # b) is correct.
(you may dance and play music in a Bais Hakvoros,)
otherwise how do have thousands of Frum
Yidden dancing to music
in Uman and Meron.
*Poskim differentiate between Loeg Lerosh which is only within 4 Amos and Kalus Rosh is in the
entireBais Hakevoros see Pischei Teshuva, Shu"t Chasam Sofer Y.D. 335, Kalus Roshis forbidden evn where there are no Kevorim but was designated as a Bais Hakvoros.
