ואהבת לרעך כמוך


                    ואהבת לרעך כמוך

According to R. Moishe Feinstein* zt"l, it is appropriate to ask for a Bracha from a non-religious Yid if he  still believes in Hashem.

We can never know what זכויות he might have and Hashem
will listen to his prayer.

This is especially true if he feels your pain, he sympathizes
with you and has all the good intentions for you.

By doing so he has an additional זכות of being מקיים the
Mitzvah of ואהבת לרעך כמוך, (Segulah for תפילות to be answered)
