Please help With An Answer

                                                                                             ר"י)  בז' בסיון נתנה תורה)

The Mogen Avraham #494 asks: How can we say on the first day of Shavuos (the sixth day of Sivan) “ יום מתן תורתינו”, we Pasken like R. Yosi who holds, the Torah was given, on the seventh of Sivan.

The Chasam Sofer in the Drashos (Shavuos)  answers the Magen Avraham’s Kushya.

I can’t understand the Mogen Avraham Kushya and why the Chasam Sofer needed to answer it.

The question doesn’t even begin, The Nusach we have for the last thousand years is “זמן מתן”, not יום מתן. The word זמן can be said on the day before Matan Torah. The דרשות ר"י אבן שועיב *  says this to be the exact reason why we say זמן and not יום .
