after we leave Shul.)
The מגן אברהם adds, "Also not to carry money (Muktza) in the
pocket.
Some Shuls collect "Esrog Gelt**" on הושענא רבה
but it is not right to do so".
The פרי מגדים argues on the מג"א and writes that it was intentionally
done so to collect the money on הושענא רבה when there is a
large crowd in Shul.
The בן איש חי writes, that money for צדקה overrides the Minhag of
not carrying money on הושענא רבה.
It would seem that carrying מוקצה other than money
(eg: cell phone etc.) in Shul on הושענא רבה, all would agree
that it is not recommended.
