The great sights

Parshas Hashavua ואתחנן         ובמורא גדול - זו גילוי שכינה כמה שנאמר*   או הנסה אלהים לבוא לקחת לו גוי מקרב  גוי במסות באתת ובמופתים ובמלחמה וביד חזקה 'ובזרוע נטויה ובמוראים גדולים וגו How do we know from this פסוק that מורא גדול means גילוי שכינה? *The word “מורא”  has two translations a) fear b) sight. The פסוק - ובמורא גדול can be misinterpreted great fear. From the   פסוק in ואתחנן where it says ובמוראים גדולים we know that the translation can only be “awe” (of the sights) and not fear because in Loshon Hakodesh there Is no plural word for fear therefore ובמורא גדול translation is also with great awe of the sights of גילוי שכינה. מאת אבי מורי ר' צבי יהודה פרידמן זללה"ה*
