אלהא דמאיר
ענני
Which מאיר?
According to the מהרש"א
(עבודה זרה 18) It
can’t refer to the
תנא ר' מאיר* because he was still
alive.
In his lifetime** he would not use
his
own name attached to Hashem (אלהא).
The
מהרש"א says “it refers to Hashem.
מאיר is not a name. It
is a word, אלהא דמאיר
Hashem who lights up the world. (המאיר לארץ )
Or, "אלהא
דמאיר" Hashem who lit up for us
during
the dark days of the Greeks with
the נס of
Chanukah”.
He shall bring ניסים to save you.
