פרשת זכור


SEGULAH TO REMEMBER

In the original יכין ובועז Mishnayos
on one of the first pages,  it says,

It is written* to say this תפילה before starting to learn
(Segulah) to prevent from forgetting the learning.

There are four פסוקים to be said 3 times ישר והפוך (forwards & backwards)
The fourth Pasuk to be said (forwards & backwards) is
בחקתיך אשתעשע לא אשכח דברך**

I don't know how this Segulah would work if one
Davens בכוונה and says, 
"דברך אשכח - your words I should forget
לא אשתעשע בחקתיך - I shall not preoccupy
myself in your statutes."

    Maybe the meaning is as if there's an "if" in there. "Your words I will forget IF I do not preoccupy myself in your statutes".
