Bought Or Sold ? -Chad Gadya

החדש הזה לכם
The Ribono Shel Olam will provide all your needs in Nissan.אמבצי

          חד גדיא דזבין אבא

זבין (with a Yud) means sold. זבן (without the Yud) means bought.

Therefore חד גדיא דזבין אבא should be translated my father sold, or if you change the spelling to דזבן then the translation is my father bought

Mori V'Rabi Harav Hagaon R. Shlomo Miller Shlita said:

There is a third possibility to keep the spelling with a Yud but change the pronunciation to DEZVIN instead of DEZABIN.

The translation will change to " One kid the "purchase of " my father.

1) Two of the most prominent Pirushim on חד גדיא are from the יעבץ and from R.Mordchai Tchernobler zt"l.
They both translate דזבין אבא that he sold .

2) *R Daniel Goldschmidt a"h writes that the spelling to be דזבן without the Yud.(bought)
