The Rambam Ate Gebrokts

The Rambam & R. Amrom Gaon both ate Gebrokts at the Seder

The Tur (O.Ch. 475) writes that the Rambam & R Amrom Gaon both hold that the Matzoh at the Seder needs to be dipped in the Charoses.

  1. Most Orthodox Jews are aware of kosher-for-Passover Coca Cola.

Recently, I read a book which claims that the reason for kosher-for-Passover Coca Cola is that regular Coca Cola contains corn syrup, which is a derivative of kitniyot.

Kosher-for-Passover Coca Cola contains cane sugar instead.

Kitniyot were eaten on Passover by:
all of the prophets of Tanach,
all of the Rabbis of the Mishnah,
all of the Rabbis of the Talmud,
and all of the Rabbis known as Gaonim and Rishonim.

The custom to not eat kitniyot on Passover
is around 5+ centuries old, compared to the Torah,
which is 33+ centuries old. This means that there
were 28 centuries of Jewish History in which the
custom to not eat kitniyot on Passover did not exist.

The custom to not eat gebrokts on Passover was
invented by the Baal Shem Tov or his followers,
for the purpose of showing that they were more
"frum" than their critics -- the mitnagdim.

Since the Baal Shem Tov lived 3 centuries ago,
there were 30 centuries or 3,000 years of
Jewish History when this custom did not exist.
