.Did the sing the שיר של יום?               The Sefer תורה לדעת* asks, a) If the לויים actually sang the שיר של יום b) or they said it while the music was playing. The Mishna in M' Tamid we say every day it says,השיר שהלויים היו אומרים. The Rambam, (תמידין ומוספין פ"ו ה"ז)  writes ודברו הלויים בשיר From these two sources, it seems that they didn't sing it but said it.
