Is It a Fairy Tale ?

The Tiferes Yisroel at the end of מסכת קדושין claims to have found this interesting story about Moishe Rabeinu

"A desert king heard about the greatness of Moishe Rabeinus and sent his finest artists to bring back a portrait of him.

The king gave the portrait to his physiognomists (fiz-ee-og-nuh-mists – people who are able to determine personal characteristics from face) to study it and describe Moshe’s character.
They reported that the portrait revealed a man who was vain, arrogant, lustful, greedy and degenerate. The king was shocked because this was the exact opposite of what he had heard about Moishe Rabeinu. So the king went to find out for himself.
The king told Moishe about the purpose of his visit, and Moishe answered him: Your physiognomists are correct. I was indeed born with all these negative characteristics. But I struggled to overcome them and thus transformed my character."

The Vilkomir Magid had strong objections to this story. He claimed, this story is sourced from secular books.
The Magid printed a pamphlet refuting the story claiming it can't be true because the Torah writes
ותרא אותו כי טוב. The story also opposes  Chazal. He  criticized the Gadol (Tiferes Yisroel) for publishing
the story.
